The Greece current account surplus increased somewhat in July from previous year, the Bank of Greece reported Thursday.

The current account surplus rose to EUR 1.58 billion in July from EUR 1.54 billion in the corresponding month last year.

The deficit on goods trade widened to EUR 1.70 billion from EUR 1.51 billion prior year. Meanwhile, the surplus on services rose to EUR 3.75 billion from EUR 3.28 billion.

At the same time, the primary income deficit widened to EUR 395 million from EUR 161 million.

During the January to July period, the current account deficit of the country was EUR 2.2 billion, up from EUR 1.6 billion a year earlier.
